The Fort Street Brewing Process
Adding the malt
During the brewing process, we'll convert the starch in the malt to sugar.
Stirring the mash
This breaks up clumps that form and gets an even temperature throughout the mash.
This is what the mash looks like once it's all mixed in
Transfering the wort to the kettle
The wort is the sugary liquid that we extract from the water malt mixture.
Adding hops
Hops provide bitterness to counteract the sweetness imparted from the mlat.  Hops also provide flavor and aroma.
Removing the spent grains
After we've extracted the sugar and run off the wort to the kettle, the grains are of no more use to us.  The grain makes healthy food for livestock or great mulch for your garden.
Transfering to the fermenter
Oxygen is injected to help the yeast do it's job.
